ACQUERELLO: LA CHIESETTA SOTTO LA NEVE

Scende la prima neve, che annuncia  l'inverno in arrivo, ed allora  è adatto  al clima di questi giorni un acquerello che rappresenti una nevicata.

Ho dipinto la piccola chiesa del Gesù di Sagliano Micca (Piemonte), rappresentata in un giorno freddo e nevoso.

It is snowing and this is a watercolor representing one of the churches (Chiesa del Gesù) of Sagliano Micca (Piedmont, Italy).

FRANCHEMENT ART 2013 A VILLEFRANCHE.

GIARDINI PENSILI

Ho dipinto una città "geometrica" dove torri di diversa altezza sorgono l'una accanto all'altra e ospitano, sulla loro sommità, i giardini pensili. 

Dimensioni 100 x 70 cm, tecnica mista/acrilico e collage su tela.

HANGING GARDENS

I painted a "geometrical" city where the gardens are on the top of the buildings: towers with different shapes and different hight.

LA CITTA' IN FESTA

Questo quadro rappresenta una città dove stanno per svolgersi festeggiamenti: una festa patronale? Una vittoria da ricordare? Una piacevole ricorrenza? L'arrivo dell'estate?

Gli abitanti espongono drappi e allestiscono dei gazebo colorati sulle terrazze delle case. Nappe, cordoni e nastri preziosi sventolano dinanzi al panorama della città.

A FESTIVELY DECORATED TOWN

I painted a festively decorated town. This is for a patronal feast, or there is a victory to remember, or the inhabitants are cheerful for the arrival of Summer... we don't know. There are drapes, ribbons, precious fabrics and gazebos on the terraces.

FAVOLA - QUADRO 4 : LA PRIMAVERA

PARTECIPO ALLA MOSTRA "TETRALOGIA DA FAVOLA"

Il Re accolse la Regina dell' Estate  nel suo palazzo e pensò che il caldo della stagione estiva era proprio ciò che gli mancava: insieme avrebbero potuto rendere quella landa desolata un luogo più ospitale. E fu così che, dal loro incontro, nacque il Regno di Primavera.

King Winter hosted the Queen of Summer in his Palace. He thought that the warm weather of summer was exactly what he needed to make his desolated land a nicer place. The Kingdom of Spring was the result of the encounter between the King and the Queen.

PARTECIPO ALLA MOSTRA "TETRALOGIA DA FAVOLA"

All'improvviso giunse una donna che attrasse l'attenzione del re: era diversa dalle altre e lo fissava. I suoi occhi erano di un azzurro trasparente ed il suo volto era serio, ma pareva abbozzare un impercettibile sorriso. Il re le domandò: "Sei qui per il bando?". La giovane donna rispose: "Quale bando? Io sono la Regina Estate. Ero in viaggio verso il Nord, quando sono stata sorpresa da una bufera di neve ed ora non so dove rifugiarmi."

Suddenly the attention of the King was attracted by the arrival of  a young woman: she was different from the other female suitors. She stared at him and there was a slight smile on her face. The King asked her: "Are you coming here because you saw the announcement?" The young lady answered: "What announcement? I am the Queen of Summer. I was travelling to reach the North when I was stuck in a blizzard and now I have no shelter."

TETRALOGIA DA FAVOLA

Dal 4 al 24 aprile 2013 si svolgerà a Milano, presso la Galleria Studio Ambre Italia, la mostra collettiva "TETRALOGIA DA FAVOLA" a cui partecipo con 4 miei quadri.

Il tema è consistito nell'ideare 4 opere (formato 50x50) fortemente legate tra loro da una storia.

A new collective exhibition is going to take place in Milan at the Galleria Studio Ambre Italia. The title is "TETRALOGIA DA FAVOLA" and the exhibition lasts from the 4th to the 24th of April. I made 4 paintings (acrylic on canvas 50x50 cm): 4 scenes telling a fairy tale.

Un giorno, ritenendo non più tollerabile la solitudine, il re decise di cercarsi una sposa, facendo affiggere un bando in tutti i regni confinanti con il suo. Giunsero varie dame ansiose di mostrare i loro pregi: c'era chi si vantava di avere una grande cultura, chi si riteneva abilissima nel filare, chi faceva sfoggio di improbabile eleganza. Il re, disgustato da tutto il vociare e da tutti quegli orpelli con cui si erano agghindate le pretendenti, se ne stava triste ed annoiato. Per lui erano tutte uguali, come se sul viso portassero una maschera.

A Fairy Tale - part 2 : THE FEMALE SUITORS

One day, the King decided to look for a wife because he was very sad and lonely. The King posted a notice in all the neighboring kingdoms. Many noblewomen arrived in order to show their qualities. Some of them were proud of their own culture, others were good at knitting, others thought to be the most elegant ones. The King was disgusted by the noise, by their voices, by their strange hats; he was sad and bored. He had no interest in them: to him they were all the same as if they were wearing masks over their faces.

C'era una volta un re che si chiamava Inverno ed aveva un grande palazzo nel bel mezzo di una landa desolata e ricoperta di neve. I suoi sudditi, stanchi delle bufere di neve e del clima gelido, erano migrati tutti verso altri regni dal clima più mite. Il re era rimasto completamente solo e, per questo motivo, si era rifugiato in una stanzetta del palazzo ed aveva buttato il suo trono in mezzo alla neve. "Tanto - pensava - a che mi serve? Non debbo dare udienza a nessuno."

A Fairy Tale - part 1: KING WINTER

Once upon a time there was a king named Winter. He lived in a large palace in the middle of a desolate land covered with snow. His subjects, who could no longer bear the blizzards and the chilly weather, had gone away to settle down in other kingdoms with milder climate.

For this reason, the King was completely alone. He decided to live in a small room inside his palace and he throwed away his  throne in the snow. "This throne is useless - he said - in fact I have no subjects to receive."

ACQUERELLI D'ARCHITETTURA: CASA KAUFMANN DI RICHARD NEUTRA

Dopo Villa Malaparte a Capri, ho scelto come soggetto per un mio acquarello una costruzione particolarmente interessante: casa Kaufmann di Richard Neutra.

Non si tratta della forse più famosa casa Kaufmann costruita da Frank Lloyd Wright a Bear Run, bensì di un' abitazione realizzata da Richard Neutra per lo stesso sig. Kaufmann a Palm Springs.
Ho realizzato questo acquerello per il blog GIOBACASA.

I made a new watercolor and the subject is the Kaufmann House. The architect was Richard Neutra and this masterpiece of modern architecture is located in Palm Springs. There is another Kaufmann House (maybe more famous) known as "Fallingwater", located in Bear Run and designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. 

LE CITTA' INVISIBILI: IL VIAGGIATORE

Questo quadro, che ho realizzato con colori acrilici su una tavola in fibra di legno  a media densità (formato 30x40 cm), trae ispirazione dal libro "Le città invisibili" di Italo Calvino.
Ogni capitolo riporta dialoghi immaginari tra Marco Polo e il Kublai. Tema delle conversazioni è il viaggio, nel suo significato più profondo: la vita, il tempo.
Ho immaginato un viaggiatore che si accinge a scegliere quale via intraprendere. Ogni strada porta all'incredibile varietà e ricchezza del mondo: i boschi, i fiori, il mare, le città, il cielo solcato da aquiloni.

I made this painting using acrylic colors on a  board (30x40 cm).

In each chapter of the book by Italo Calvino "Le città invisibili " there are imaginary dialogues between Marco Polo and Kublai. The theme of their conversations is the voyage, in its deepest meaning: life, time. I imagined a traveller who must choose which path to take. Every road leads to the wide  variety and wealth of the world: woods, flowers, the sea, the cities, the sky full of kites.

ACQUERELLI D'ARCHITETTURA: VILLA MALAPARTE A CAPRI

Trovo particolarmente interessante rappresentare, con la tecnica ad acquerello, costruzioni che sono entrate nella storia dell'architettura.
Non si tratta necessariamente di edifici monumentali e di grandi dimensioni: l'architettura del secolo scorso ha prodotto autentici capolavori anche nell'ambito dell'edilizia abitativa unifamiliare. Una costruzione particolarmente affascinante è Villa Malaparte a Capri, che ho rappresentato in questo acquerello realizzato per il blog di GIOBACASA.
