PIAZZA GAE AULENTI A MILANO

Nel mese di maggio ho avuto l'opportunità di scattare alcune foto nella Piazza Gae Aulenti a Milano. La Piazza è stata progettata da Cesar Pelli e, nel 2012, è stata dedicata all'architetto e designer Gae Aulenti.

L'edificio dominante la piazza è l'imponente grattacielo Unicredit Tower, caratterizzato dalla guglia, o "Spire".

Poco lontano sorgono anche   le torri residenziali progettate da Boeri Studio, denominate "Bosco Verticale": questa realizzazione ha vinto nel 2014 l'International Highrise Award come grattacielo più bello del mondo.

La Piazza costituisce un luogo urbano di aggregazione non solo per il gran numero di attività commerciali, ma anche per la presenza di elementi e dettagli architettonici che rendono lo spazio particolarmente gradevole e movimentato. Interessanti, ad esempio, sono le pensiline a grigliato e la fontana a sfioro. 

Two months ago, in May, I had the opportunity to take some pictures in Gae Aulenti Square, in Milan. This square was designed by Cesar Pelli and was dedicated, in 2012, to Gae Aulenti, the famous architect and designer.

The skyscraper of the Unicredit Tower dominates the square and we can also admire nearby the residential towers of "Bosco Verticale", designed by Boeri Studio. These towers won the International Highrise Award in 2014 as the most beautiful skyscraper in the world.

The square is a very nice place to visit and to spend leisure time, not only because there are so many shops, but also because there are very interesting and nice architectural elements and details.

ARCHITETTURA: ZENTRUM PAUL KLEE A BERNA

Nel mese di aprile, ho avuto l'opportunità di visitare a Berna il Zentrum Paul Klee, museo progettato da Renzo Piano e dedicato alla presentazione delle opere del famoso pittore. Si tratta di un grande spazio espositivo, che ospita anche mostre temporanee, sale conferenze ed un'area in cui i bambini possono esercitare attività ludico-artistiche. In questa occasione il Centro ospitava anche una mostra retrospettiva su Henry Moore. Il Zentrum Paul Klee si sviluppa architettonicamente come una successione di tre onde, o colline, in vetro e acciaio. E' possibile percorrere esternamente una "passeggiata architettonica" che permette di ammirare i vari dettagli costruttivi. L'interno si sviluppa con una successione di locali estremamente ampi e funzionali, per cui la visita al museo risulta essere un'esperienza, oltre che interessante, estremamente piacevole.

Last april I had the opportunity to visit the Paul Klee Zentrum in Bern. This museum is a Renzo Piano project and it was built to host the works of art by Paul Klee. It is a wide exhibition space with conference rooms, a cafeteria and an area where kids can express themselves by making drawings or other artistical activities. At that time, the Center also housed a retrospective exhibition on Henry Moore. The building  is architecturally developed as a succession of three waves, or hills,  in steel and glass. You can walk along the main front of the building (this is the "architectural promenade"). The visit of this Zentrum is a nice experience.

I GIARDINI DEL CASTELLO DI FONTAINE LA SORET

Maggio è il mese ideale per visitare i parchi ed i giardini. Ho visitato la tenuta di Fontaine La Soret, a 140 Km da Parigi.

Il parco comprende tra l'altro un'area progettata da Russel Page. Ho trovato particolarmente suggestivi il giardino di fiori bianchi e blu, racchiuso tra alte siepi, ed un prato in leggera discesa dominato da un cedro del Libano piantato nel 1770 circa.

Bellissimo anche il glicine bianco che orna la terrazza del castello. Ho scattato alcune fotografie dei punti più affascinanti.

FONTAINE LA SORET GARDENS
May is a very good period to visit parks and gardens. I went to the gardens of Fontaine La Soret (140 Km from Paris). This park includes also an area that was designed by Russel Page. I found very charming the part of the garden full of white and blue flowers and surrounded by high hedges. Behind it there is a lawn with a slight downhill with a giant Cedar of Lebanon that was planted in about 1770. There is also a wonderful white Wisteria adorning the terrace of the castle. I took some photographs of the most fascinating points of the garden.

IL GIARDINO DI CLAUDE MONET A GIVERNY

Venerdì scorso ho avuto l'opportunità di visitare il bellissimo giardino che Claude Monet  acquistò a Giverny nel 1893. Questo è il periodo ottimale perchè ci si trova immersi in un autentico tripudio di fiori (iris, peonie, glicine, ecc.) e non mancano le famose ninfee, che sono state il tema di vari dipinti di Monet. E' stata l'occasione ideale per scattare qualche fotografia. Sono certa che quanto ho ammirato potrà essermi di ispirazione anche per qualche acquerello.

THE GARDEN OF CLAUDE MONET AT GIVERNY.
Last Friday I had the oppurtunity to visit the wonderful garden that Claude Monet  bought in Giverny in 1893. This is the best period to visit the garden because it is full of an incredible variety of flowers (iris, peonies, Wisteria, etc.) and there are also the famous water lilies that we can admire in several paintings by Monet. This was a good moment to take some photographs and I am sure this could be a nice inspiration for some watercolours.

Dal 1° al 17 maggio avrà luogo ad Oropa (Biella) la mostra collettiva del Fotoclub Biella dal titolo "Gente e Popoli". Parteciperò con due mie fotografie.

The Fotoclub Biella is organizing an exhibition at Oropa (Biella) and the theme is  "Peoples". I'll show there two pictures. 

CAVALLI DI CIELO, CAVALLI DI TERRA

Un piccolo quadro acrilico e collage (cm 20x40), che rappresenta i cavalli di una giostra. Alcuni sono cavalli della terra: restano ancorati alla giostra e ruotano senza mai discostarsi dal suolo. Altri invece seguono una traiettoria di ascesa e sono cavalli del cielo. Ho pensato al mito della biga alata di Platone. L'anima dell'uomo è simile ad un auriga impegnato a mantenere in equilibrio una biga trainata da una coppia di cavalli: uno di questi è bianco e rappresenta la spiritualità, l'altro è nero e tende verso il basso, verso istinti e passioni.

The subject of this small painting (acrylic and collage cm 20x40) is a merry-go-round with horses. Some of them are "earth horses" : they never fly and they always go only round and round. Others are "heaven horses"and they are flying free. It's like the mith of Plato: man's soul is like a charioteer and it's up to him to keep the balance between two horses: the white horse is spirituality (heaven), the black one  is istinct and passion (earth).

Con l'arrivo della primavera le giornate si allungano, i colori della natura diventano vivaci ed allora perchè non fare delle belle passeggiate fissando con la macchina fotografica gli incantevoli paesaggi che ci circondano?

Spring is arrived: the days are getting longer, the colours of the nature are brighter and it is so pleasant to take photographs of the enchanting landscapes surrounding us.
