LA PORTANTINA

....Era la fine del 1600, Madame viaggiava sulla sua portantina. Aveva fretta perchè temeva di arrivare in ritardo alla festa che il Duca aveva organizzato per il proprio compleanno.

C'era molto vento e il cielo si stava sempre più oscurando. Improvvisamente i portatori esclamarono: "Madame, impossibile proseguire: dobbiamo fermarci. Troppa acqua."

L'acqua aveva vinto sulla fretta, sugli impegni, sui desideri...

THE SEDAN CHAIR

In the last years of the 17th century, Madame was travelling in her elegant sedan chair.

She was in a hurry: she was late for the birthday party of the Duke.

The weather wasn't fine: there was a lot of wind and the sky was becoming dark. Suddenly the porters shouted: "Madame, we can't go on: there's too much water."

She realized that she couldn't do anything against the waves.

IL CASTELLO - THE CASTLE

Un altro paesaggio: questa volta è un castello immaginario. E' ormai notte e le due donne arrivano nei pressi del castello dopo aver camminato a lungo. E' stato un viaggio faticoso. Forse provengono da un altro castello o forse sono di ritorno alle loro abitazioni dopo aver trascorso parecchi anni in una nazione straniera. Non sappiamo. Le due donne si fermano e una di loro appoggia la borsa a terra. Guardano il castello e tutto sembra dar loro il benvenuto: le luminarie, le fiaccole e i drappi stesi lungo le mura.

Esporrò questo quadro alla mostra collettiva che avrà luogo in ottobre al Museo dei Campionissimi a Novi Ligure.

THE CASTLE.

This new painting is showing an imaginary castle. It is night and the two ladies are arriving from a long journey. Maybe they come from another castle and they are tired after the long walk. Or maybe they are coming back after many years spent in a foreign country. We don't know. They stop and look at the castle, and everything seems to welcome them: the lights, the torches, the drapes.

I'll show this painting in a group exhibition at Museo dei Campionissimi in Novi Ligure in October.

IL RIFUGIO ALPINO E LE BANDIERE PREGHIERA TIBETANE

Recentemente ci siamo recati in un  Rifugio in Val d'Ayas. La giornata era bella e soleggiata e, dato che sul rifugio sventolavano decine di bandiere preghiera tibetane, ci è sembrato di pranzare in un paese himalayano: è stato molto simpatico e suggestivo.

Questo mi ha ricordato un mio quadro, di cui pubblico un piccolo particolare, ispirato proprio alle bandiere preghiera tibetane.

PRAYER FLAGS AND A MOUNTAIN HUT.

Recently we went to a mountain hut located in the Ayas Valley, near Monte Rosa. We had our lunch under a lot of prayer flags and it seemed as if we were in the Himalayas. It was very nice.

This reminded me a detail of a painting of mine showing prayer flags in a red sunset.
